Flu Shots Fast Facts
 Your health plan covers flu shots. Flu season is from December through March. The best time to get a flu shot is NOW, early in the season. Get your flu shot from your network doctor. The virus changes every year, so your flu shot from last year will not protect you. You need a flu shot every year.
Flu shots are commonly recommended for:
- Children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years.
- Pregnant women, at any stage of pregnancy.
- Children and adults between 5 and 49 who have a chronic disease, such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease.
- Those who work as caregivers and health care workers
- Anyone over 50
Older persons and those with chronic conditions who get the flu are at great risk of getting secondary pneumonias after a flu infection, which can result in hospitalization or death.
