Am I Covered by the Plan?

Your benefits are determined by the collective bargaining agreement or contract negotiated between your union, SEIU Local 32BJ, and your employer.

The Building Service 32BJ Supplemental Retirement Savings Plan (SRSP) is a defined contribution retirement plan that has two sources of contributions: employee 401k contributions through payroll deduction and employer contributions. Your contract determines whether you may participate in the SRSP through 401k contributions, whether your employer is required to contribute to your SRSP account and, if so, how much your employer is required to contribute.

The following members are generally eligible to participate in the SRSP, subject to wait periods:

  • members working in residential and commercial buildings in Manhattan , Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island;
  • members in residential employment in Long Island or Westchester are also eligible to participate;
  • security officers may be eligible for 401(k) only;
  • engineers in Philadelphia (BOLR).

To determine whether you may be eligible to participate in the SRSP, consult your contract, ask your union delegate/steward or call the Member Service Center at 1-212-388-3500.

If you are covered, consult the SRSP Summary Plan Description on this website for Plan information, including eligibility information.
