Tri-State Plan SPD
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This is the Summary Plan Description (“SPD”) of the plan of benefits (“the Plan”) of the Building Service 32BJ Health Fund (“the Fund”) with regard to the Tri-State Plan. Your rights to benefits can only be determined by this SPD, as interpreted by official action of the Board of Trustees (“the Board”). You should refer to this booklet when you need information about your Plan benefits. In addition, the Board reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to amend the Plan at any time. |
Is this your plan?
Your health benefits are determined by the collective bargaining agreement or contract negotiated between your union, SEIU Local 32BJ, and your employer. In general, subject to other requirements such as number of days or hours worked, the following groups of members are covered by the Tri-State Plan.
The Tri-State Plan covers most full-time members working for cleaning contractors in:
- New Jersey (some members covered by the Tri-State Preferred Plan)
- Westchester and the Hudson Valley
- Long Island (some members covered by the Tri-State Preferred Plan)
- Fairfield County, CT (as of 1/1/07) (includes a short-term disability benefit)
- Hartford, CT (as of 2/1/08) (includes a short-term disability benefit)
- New Haven, CT (as of 7/1/08) (includes a short-term disability benefit)
- Philadelphia Suburbs
- Bowie State University > Washington D.C. area > (single coverage only)
- Washington, DC, Baltimore, and Montgomery County, MD (as of 3/1/08)
- Washington, DC Security Officers (single coverage)
There are also a number of other health benefit plans, such as Tri-State Preferred and Metropolitan. If you are not sure which plan you are in, please consult the Health Plan Finder, check with your union delegate/steward, consult your contract, or call Member Services at 212-388-3500.
