About the Funds

The Building Service 32BJ Benefit Funds is the umbrella organization responsible for administering the benefits provided to most members of Local 32BJ through five separate funds: the Building Service 32BJ Health, Pension, Supplemental Retirement Savings Plan (SRSP), Thomas Shortman Training and Legal Services Funds. These Funds are governed by a joint Board of Trustees consisting of an equal number of union and employer Trustees. In addition, the Benefit Funds provides administrative services to the Local 2 (Window Cleaners) Pension, the Local 54 (Theater) Pension, and the Service Employees 32BJ North Pension, Health, Legal and Training Funds. Altogether about 65,000 members plus their eligible family members are covered by these benefits.

The Benefit Funds is located at 101 Avenue of the Americas, with satellite facilities in New Jersey, New Rochelle and other locations. At 101 Avenue of the Americas, the Benefit Funds offers:

1. the Health Fund dental clinic,
2. the Legal Services Fund legal office with lawyers,
3. the Shortman Fund training facility,
4. a call center which answers questions from members about benefits,
5. a walk-in center in the lobby to answer member questions about benefits.
